This course is designed for educators who want to integrate Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) with multicultural diversity principles. It aims to enhance both linguistic and cultural competencies, enabling teachers to present diverse European heritage and address multicultural and gender diversity in the classroom.

This innovative training course blends CLIL methodology with multicultural and gender diversity education. It is ideal for non-native language teachers and other educators who aim to present European culture using a foreign language and promote an inclusive classroom environment. The course emphasizes experiential learning, encouraging participants to apply content and language directly in practice, thereby enhancing communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.Participants will develop skills to teach European culture through foreign languages and learn strategies to support students from various cultural backgrounds. The training covers the integration of CLIL in European schools, the importance of teaching culture, and the practical application of multicultural education principles. Participants will also have the opportunity to visit the Museu do Fado in Lisbon, gaining cultural insights and understanding the significance of Fado music.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand and discuss the five self-regulation domains

  • Learn and discuss the principles of CLIL methodology

  • Understand the role of multicultural education in modern EU societies

  • Develop and implement effective CLIL lessons

  • Explore European culture and its significance in the classroom

  • Identify and address biases and cultural backgrounds of students

  • Understand the inclusion of migrants and refugees in the EU educational system

  • Explore gender studies and their relevance to education

  • Address intolerance and bullying by building a classroom community

  • Connect students from diverse backgrounds to the local community

  • Understand and apply European law in promoting equality and dealing with discrimination

  • Gain insights into Fado music and its cultural significance through a visit to the Museu do Fado in Lisbon

  • Share and exchange best practices with other educators from around Europe

Methods and tools:

  • Lectures and presentations, exercises, discussions, teamwork, group work, role-playing, study visits , interactive activities

It includes:

  • 20/40 hours of classes spread over 5/10 course days,

  • Optional Cultural Activities and Visits,

  • Participants’ Evaluation Feedback,

  •  Certificate of Attendance and Europass mobility
